Dog Days of Summer is such a blast! The City of Billings opens up Rose Park Pool for one day each year…just for doggies to go for a swim. This happens the day after closing day at the pool.

I loved making our family dog Duke feel important. For one special day this summer he was the center of attention. This is something that I hate to admit has not happened regularly since having two kids. It reminds me of Lady and the Tramp when the baby is coming. Dogs can definitely take a back seat, especially in the early years. This event was a great opportunity to teach our oldest daughter Natalya (4) about truly caring for our black lab and showing him the love and attention he deserves.

5 Star Review
Dog Days of Summer is an entertaining afternoon for the entire family. Natalya even jumped in the pool with Duke after the event was over to help staff fetch all of the tennis balls! Phew…his retriever skills are still there even though he is 9 years old. My cute little duo of Duke and Natalya didn’t want to leave, and we’re sure to go back again year after year. That is a true sign of a 5-star review. #kidapproved #pupapproved

Pros: Everything. Amazing opportunity for dogs and humans. Thank you City of Billings Parks & Rec!
Cons: It only happens one day/year. Also, there’s limited steps for older dogs to get out of the deeper parts of the pool. You may need to jump in and help your older dog to find the stairs.

  1. This looks like so much fun! Do the dogs interact with each other or do they stick to the swimming? I bet Murphy would love this.

    1. The Little dogs played in the splash area Together and the big dogs swam for tennis balls…lol! I bet Murphy and the boys would love it!
