We LOVE Rose Park Pool. Hands down 5 star review. The City of Billings remodeled this gem and…wow…it is the best, affordable, outdoor summer entertainment for the entire family. In fact, when we first walked in, it reminded me of the fun pools in Vegas complete with lounge areas, concessions, big pool swimming areas, diving boards, slides, lockers (free) and kids’ shallow splash play areas. Of course…kids’ version of Vegas without all the craziness of the strip…but trust me, kids have their own version of crazy at the pool…lol!
Hours: Noon-8:00 p.m. during summer (June-start of school mid-August approximately) Check the City of Billings Parks and Rec website for exact dates each year.
Price: Age 4 & Under Free, Kids $3, Adults $6, Slide pass $3 for kids and $4 for adults, family season swim pass is $180
Concessions: Ahh-mazing Montana Huckleberry slushies $2.00. Flavor varies each day. Popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, candy, ice cream bars, snacks. Very affordable. Also, multiple round picnic tables located in the shade.
Shade & Chairs: There’s a fair amount of shade and pool lounge chairs. There’s a nice lawn area to throw out a blanket and relax.
Locker Rooms & Lockers: FREE lockers to store your wallet and valuable kids items with easy to use number code pads. The locker rooms are clean and nice. In addition, there are a few private family changing rooms with a toilet & sink.
Slides: Kids must be 48′ tall to go down the slides. For comparison, some slides require kids to be 42′ tall. Tip: don’t promise slide day at Rose Park if your child isn’t at least 48′ tall. This is a safety issue and the height requirement is determined by the manufacturer of the slide. One person at a time, so no riding on mom or dad’s lap. This means your little swimmer must be able to touch the bottom of the 3.5 foot deep water at the end of the slide and/or swim to the side by themselves. My daughter Natalya is lucky she is a tall 4 year old!
Safety/Lifeguards: We have felt extremely safe here and I’ve even braved it and taken my 4 year old and my 1 year old at the same time, something I was very nervous about when I started out with SAHM life. The lifeguards rotate posts often so they do not get bored and are always paying attention to your littles. They are strict, but I think this is the best scenario.
