Coronavirus Brings Creativity to the at-home Dining Experience

American families are eating at home every. single. day. during the coronavirus pandemic social distancing era of 2020. While we’re saving loads of money by eating in, sometimes the chef (mom/dad/teacher/daycare provider) can get a little worn out keeping the family fed every meal of the day…all while trying to work from home. When you get the chance for that special occasion to break up the monotony and order takeout or delivery, make the most of it! Here’s a few fun ideas to level up your at-home family dining experience…while supporting local restaurants. Bonus, your kids will feel super special and so will you. Coronavirus has families bonding like never before.

fine dining at home

  • Plating: It’s all in the plating folks. Get your kids, get the food out of the go boxes and experiment with at-home plating. Teach them how to use ketchup, hot sauce, mustard or chocolate syrup to make a special design on your plate, bowl or glass. Try experimenting with chocolate milk and ice cream for dessert if you dare give your little cuties that much sugar while confined to the home.
  • Customer Service Training: This is where high 5’s for superb effort come in. Brace for some spills and mishaps, but let them go all out to make your at-home dining experience the most unique ever! Your littles can learn a lot about customer service during their time at home. They’ve probably already picked up some tips from your adventures into the out in our past lives (insert HOME humor)…and now it is their time to shine.
  • Try a picnic! Start with a card table and a paper table covering or placemats. Have your kids draw a welcome picture or message for their guests to enhance the dining experience.
  • Next, let them seat you, take your drink orders and serve you the amazingly plated takeout order.
  • Sit back, stuff your face and soak up the time you have with your adorable kids…all while supporting a local restaurant.

#takeouttuesday #supportlocal ….. thank you!

Hey, I even noticed the Take-Out Tuesday slogan at the top, too. Great idea…..is that now happening? We need to start that in our neck of the woods in Wyoming….
