Who’s that TV weather girl in the book with the bright yellow dress, matching hair and a smile that lights up the room? This blonde, brilliant meteorologist + mom of 3 is my dear friend Jennifer Stanonis…and as of the 2020 Spring Equinox (March 19) she’s officially a published author. Her children’s book, Willy and Lilly’s Adventures with Weather, takes us on a tour of the seasons with Willy and Lilly as our guides…all while learning the science of the seasons and unlocking our inner meteorologist. *Bonus alert* the book may even empower your kids to forecast their next outdoor adventure AND choose appropriate clothes…all on their own!
Find Your Sunshine & Follow Your Passions
Yellow is a fitting color for Jennifer as she’s a California girl from the Sacramento area, and it’s always sunny in the Golden state. But, knowing this go-getter, she couldn’t possibly be content forecasting sunshine 365 days/year. So, she picked up and moved to a state that clearly has all 4 seasons: Wyoming. Little did she know, all 4 seasons can happen in one day in the Cowboy state. One blustery day, she got her big break in weather forecasting covering a wild west, fierce tornado that tore apart the small Wyoming town of Wright. Her hard work and natural talent landed her a TV weather forecasting job in Buffalo, New York. She continued her career path as a weather anchor/forecaster, but knew deep down it didn’t feel authentic to deliver the forecast without fully understanding all of the science behind it. With several years under her career belt and a bachelors in journalism already, she started taking broadcast meteorology classes while working full time. This California girl found her sunshine again at SUNY College at Brockport in NY, and became a meteorologist with a calculus based meteorology degree.
Authenticity IS Happiness
Follow your passions girl…even if that means calculus! Let your authenticity shine as bright as the sun (on a non-partly cloudy day) and you never know what life will blow your way. It is only then, you will have a 99% chance of finding your true calling in life. For Jennifer, Buffalo has given her so much more than a career. She met her husband Ted Constantine, they got married in 2012 with a double rainbow in the sky…and they have built a beautiful life together. They have three young kids, twin boys and a girl.
Now, to make meteorology match up with motherhood. While her kids are young, Jennifer is temporarily closing the curtain on the green screen for a life as an author and an ahhh-mazing mom. Willy and Lilly’s Adventures with Weather parallels her own life of getting outside and soaking in the seasons. These days, you can find Jennifer and her family on the ski slopes of Western New York, on the walking trails in Buffalo stomping on the crunchy fall leaves, playing in the sand on the beaches of California, canoeing on the waters of the Great Lakes, gazing at the magic of Niagra Falls…and soon to be exploring the spring weather in Montana as she heads out west once again…this time for a stop on her national book tour in Billings, Montana.

Jennifer’s national book tour and official book launch kicks off March 19, 2020 on the spring equinox with local stops in Buffalo followed by events in Sacramento, Billings and beyond. Visit Jennifer’s website for tour dates. The tour is your chance to get a selfie, a signed copy of her book and listen to the author herself read Willy and Lilly’s Adventures with Weather. It is followed up with a kid’s coloring activity. We may even see a Jennifer sighting in her famous, fancy blue weather pants. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this in person! She actually has pants with cloud and sunshine patterns that are sure to brighten anyones day.
