Montana infectious diseases physician David Graham is back on the blog/vlog…talking coronavirus. When Covid-19 first shocked the world, he gave us solid information on how to talk to our kids about coronavirus and answer their questions. Since March, 2020 we’ve all learned a lot, some of us have even experienced the virus firsthand…and *positive news alert* Dr. David has written a new book called ‘From Killer to Common Cold.’ I give it a 5 star review.

This book helped me detox from the daily rona #’s and think big picture! The main takeaway is that Dr. Graham believes Coronavirus will turn from a lethal pandemic to the next common cold. It cannot be eradicated and we will learn to live with it forever. I look forward to the day where this virus isn’t so scary anymore, and we can live our lives in the new “abnormal” as Dr. Graham calls it. He also points out that we still need to get from here to there and keep our vulnerable populations safe right now. That means physical distancing and wearing masks when we cannot.

Dr. David is a great family friend of ours. It’s been fun helping with book promotion, reading the book…and even interviewing him! Dr. David…I’m so proud of you! You are so dang smart. Thanks for helping the world with this book.

Book Review

Dr. Graham’s book is a quick read packed with big picture thoughts backed by science theory, history & his infectious diseases expertise. It is not a book about daily #’s, media snapshots or political views, which I found to be extremely refreshing. I got to teach my kids about how viruses work, what viruses want and don’t want…and a fun fact that one of the current common cold viruses jumped from cows to humans in the 1800’s. Fascinating! There’s also small amounts of humor in the book and great analogies to easily understand the worldwide pandemic. Big picture, I feel better informed about what’s to come over the next 2-5 years and it helped me put things into perspective and even think about what is realistic for family travel plans & holiday gatherings (for example). I included a few of my favorite excerpts from the book below.
